MEDIA & COLLABORATIONS
To celebrate Native American Heritage Month, we partnered with the talented artist, Warren Mountain, to showcase his beadwork in a giveaway opportunity. The colorful and luminous beaded patches that are the focal point of this contest are all one-of-a-kind, crafted by Warren.
This art exhibition is curated by Fond du Lac Band of Ojibwe tribal member & artist Wendy Savage! This show has the works of 29 beadwork artists in this region representing 14 tribal Nations in the midwest and Canada! This show is historic as this is the first group beadwork show in Duluth! And the work is phenomenal!
Eighth Generation has been accepting nominations for three Inspired Natives Awards over the past month. The call for nominations closes today by end of day, so there is still a chance to nominate yourself or your favorite Indigenous artist. Meanwhile, we're featuring nominees who make bling!
"What I enjoy most about this process is having the opportunity to look at the antique pieces that my ancestors created in peoples homes, social gatherings, and archives paying attention to the way the item was constructed... I spend countless hours creating beading appliqué pieces, so I hope to have it last generations [as well]."
